Today, If you drop by our center you will probably be greeted by Reverend Patricia Talis. Reverend Talis, our beautiful and ageless minister, who handles most of the administrative duties, and serves here Wednesday thru Thursday 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. She came to the center in 1973, as a bible student and fell in love with Corinne Heline's Bible Interpretations. She started serving as a Librarian and though her position has changed, she has continued to serve here ever since.
. . . Or perhaps you will be greeted by Rev. Bertha Taylor, who fills in when Reverand Talis is away. Bertha has served at our center since 1999, when her metaphysical Center in Los Angeles closed its doors and she came to do Hands on Healing at our center on Wednesday evenings. Bertha had been a minister of her own church center focusing on spiritual readings and hands on healings. Her background in esoteric work was broad and deep as was her desire to share her insightful guidance and healing ability.
Since she has been here Bertha too, has fallen in love with the teachings, as she completed courses in the philosophy and NABI. Then, when she felt ready, in 2005, she was ordained a minister at our center. Bertha handles the advertising and makes sure the chapel is ready for Sunday service as well as readys the backclassroom for coffee, tea, and fellowship afterwards. Bertha also shares her insight and wisdom in occasional Sunday lectures, and you can still attend Berth's Wednesday evening Healing Service in the back classroom.
I, Rev. Patricia Tinker, came to the center in 1980 and began teaching Wednesday afternoons Philosophy and the Bible and the Tarot. I had found the Rosicrucian teachings and immediately became a student. I began teaching classes at the Rosicrucian Fellowship - Los Angeles Center on Rosemont, and was invited to speak often at the Manley Hall Center, PRS, in Los Angeles, conducting Saturday morning classes in Numerology and the Tarot. I also taught classes during winter and summer school sessions at the Rosicrucian Fellowship in Oceanside. In 1981, I co-founded the Rosicrucian Study Center in Pasadena on Colorado Blvd, with Patricia Miller, but continued teaching here at least twice a month.
In 1992, I began working weekly at the center, and of course teaching and lecturing on a weekly basisand spring of 1995 I was ordained. In 2001, as I am not retired, I moved 123 miles south to Carlsbad, California because of work. Though I am at the center less frequently now, I still handle much of the business, all of the publishing and lecture and teach classes on Astrology, Numerology, and other esoteric classes based on Corrine Heline's and Max Heindel's work. Though I miss the fellowship that comes from teaching weekly classes and weekly contact with members of the center, I am still very much involved and do speak at various groups and organizations and promote and share the wonderful information that we publish in the Corrine Heline books.
Our center is all volunteer. We have a five person Board of Directors, the three present ministers,
and two special volunteers. Fred Ruffell, a long time student of the center, who started taking classes with Rev. Jeannie Hafford, and a past minister of Unity Church in Montana, is now a very busy Esoteric Secretary. He correctsing most of our philosophy or bible correspondence courses, as we have a large prisoner program requesting classes. Fred is a busy architect in West Los Angeles as well as a delightful speaker. Those who have come to hear him know of his lovely ease of words, as well as his love of history, philosophy, religion.
Our fifth member of our board, Jim Wood, is our Bookkeeper and Shipping Clerk. He truly does a great job with everything he does and we would be totally lost without him. He started serving here one evening a week and Sundays after service doing the accounting and shipping when he work full time. Now, though retired, he still works part time as a care-giver, and still serves here faithfully. Jim contributes in many other ways, as well taping the speakers talks and making copies, handling all book orders. He has a delightful sense of witt and always seems to contributes thoughtful and worthwhile ideas for our center.
Last, but not least.... No center can function on this small crew without the dedicated work of several talented behind-the-scene volunteers, and we are no exception. Since our earliest beginnings, those who come to the center often, also, give a hand with the whatever needs to be done. The numerous jobs these wonderful volunteers do in the course of each month, day and year-- is much appreciated.
This center remains here,
Not just because of the dedication and love put forth by its Ministers, active and inactive Nor because we are on land that is an old Lemurian Temple,
a vortex of positive and strong influencing energy Nor because of all the workers, visible and invisible who have, since our inception, volunteered their services that our teachings could go forth.
We are here to continue to publish Corinne Heline's Books and for all who pass through our little center to experience for themselves, the Aquarian theme found in all of her books: There is only one religion, the religion of "love."
We give a "Special Thank You"
to those who give so generously, be it in service or material funds, that our center can remain ever present upon this earth to welcome strangers to these beautiful esoteric truths that will one day become exoteric realities.
We are all on a journey of healing, to acknowledge and encourage the Divine expression of our being, so we can acknowledge and encourage the divine expressions of all life.
If we do not honor or value ourselves, we can not honor or value another. The answer always has and always will be discovered within
When we see the divine love moving and expressing itself through ourself,
we can see it in others.
